Short Update

Hello all,

finally – Vicki got a spot in the Kindi that is just around the corner. She starts at ~8am and Claudia picks her up when she fetched the boys from school. This is pretty good for Claudia and comes just in time to give her some more breathing space.
Niclas still doesn’t like the school here as he did in NZ, but we think he is getting used to it and he loves his football where he played with the SG Schwanebeck E1 team last weekend, prepared 3 goals and helped getting the team in spot 3 of 12 teams ;)
Max has settled in school and found a few friends (mostly girls ;) ) he also goes to football and enjoys building (or disassembling) things.
And last but not least Cecilia – she is almost dry now (except for the big business that sometimes still lands in the nappy) and seems to be a very happy little girl – except for when we go to church – we think she enjoys the acoustic there and is a bit louder than normal on Sundays…

Ok – that’s it for an update for now – Claudia and I are flying to the Maldives on Friday (can’t wait) – we already bought a snorkel set :)
If we have internet there – we’ll post some pics – if not we’ll do it afterwards…

Cheers from Marcus & family…

Merry Christmas and a good “slide” into 2012

Merry Christmas to everyone ;)

After now almost 4 months back in Germany we have finally settled in… The boys are happy(ish) in school, Marcus enjoys his work and Claudia is keeping it all together at home.
This year was again very very eventful for us. It started with a nice party with mostly Germans at our house (Barbara, Marty, Lovis & parents + the Brinker family, Carmen and the Weidt-Finks were also there) with a nice (hot) chilly that Marcus made.

After that Markus and his mom came for a visit and Max had his first school day at St. Mary’s.
In February, Enrico, Sylvia and Jendrik came to Auckland and we had a great time celebrating the boys birthdays and riding motorbikes :)
Family Stobbe stayed with us until the beginning of April. We haven’t done so much after a very busy February except for enjoying the summer of course ;) .
Max settled very quick and easy into school. Both Boys now playing soccer at Wynrs and they loved it.

We celebrated Easter in Auckland this year. Katrin & Tyra stayed with us during the holy week. And then again autumn returned to Auckland :-)

May! As always it is a big month for Victoria. She turned 3 this year. She is such a little princess! And now a big girl and was allowed to start Kindy. Victoria loved going there. And we hope we will soon find a Kindergarten for her here in Germany.

In June we had to make a very big decision. Whether to go back to Germany or stay a while longer in NZ! Beginning of July we finally knew that we will be coming back “Home”.

The next few week’s we organized our move back to Germany. All the usual stuff. We spend as much time as we could to see friends and tried to keep going with a normal life.

August then was a month packed with fun, farewells and new (we think biggest) challenge for us.
We had a fantastic farewell party. It was amazing to see how many lovely people we met in almost 5 years New Zealand.
After we packed the container and moved out of the house we had to say goodbye to NZ.

In September we started our life back in Germany. Over here in Germany it started with a lot of up and downs. We had a hard time to settle in. After the first few weeks we found a house, a good school and Marcus a good company.

Our container arrived end October and from now on everything was a little bit simpler.

Now there are only 5 days and then we celebrate Christmas. With a view back: I would say we had again a very busy year (as always;0)). And we will have a busy year ahead.

We wish all Merry Christmas and a blessed and Happy New Year!

No. 5 is growing :-)

Another example of German idiocy…

Hey all,

when Claudia came back from Max’ football training (second session) she told me that Max has been excluded from Football training because he’s to young and he doesn’t understand some of the tasks.
This comes from a coach that is going to be a teacher soon… Good luck with that…
Max has already played in NZ with Wynrs for almost a year and while he is not that ball focused he has fun and we want him to play a team sport to learn to socialize with other kids his age.
So if you’re looking for a football club in Berlin, here is one not to consider:
SV Buchholz
(Niclas is not very happy in this club either – so he’ll play for SG Schwanebeck).

Cheers from the disappointed Königs…

Tour through the house

here finally the promised video tour of our house:
Enjoy :)

Short Circuit…

Hello again,

as per the famous movie “Short Circuit”:
“Something wonderful has happened… Number Five is ALIVE!” – but not quite there yet :)

Here the proof:

We are really happy now and looking forward to welcome our new family member (some time end of May/beginning of June) although – this time (first time) it was not quite as planned as the other 4 ;)
But we think that makes it even more special – as this child is then truly a gift from god… (as it happened even though we used birth prevention).

After the stressful move into our new house we were able to settle a little here in Berlin. With our stuff finally here (and most of it in the cupboards) it is much easier to get used to the German harshness…
Last weekend we received our first visitor from NZ in the Capital. Father Robert – our parish priest is in Ireland for a short holiday and came over for a few days.

On the weekend I’ll upload the Video from our house. We’ll also have a housewarming some time next year – everyone invited ;)

Ah – by the way – we’d like to see some more comments from our readers here – it would be great to get some more feedback… Especially from the Kiwi’s :D

Ok – so long – stay tuned ;)

Tried to buy a phone…

Shopping in Germany – Went to Mediamarkt (biggest electronics store here) to buy a phone – found one for 39.99€ went to the checkout – only one open Saturday 10am in a big Shopping centre – had to wait 15 min with 4 kids – fun… at the checkout no Credit Card – went to fetch money. To the checkout again – Displays 49.99€ -was sent back to check price – all good back to checkout again – was sent back to talk to a Sales person – talked to 3 – no one responsible please wait for no 4 or maybe 10? Took the price tag back to the checkout – No again have to talk to the correct Sales person. LEFT the bloody Saftladen without phone… WTF…..
